Well it seems I am already embarking on another adventure. If you’ve been reading The Stolen Colon at all before this, you know I have been training for a triathlon which is quickly coming up this Sunday! But that triathlon I am doing for me. To prove to myself that I am healthier now that I have my ostomy than I have been in years and that Crohn’s disease will no longer hold me back from accomplishing my goals.
This next goal is for everyone else who is living with an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
In just a couple of months, I will be running a half-marathon in support of IBD research with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. That means a 13.1 mile run on December 2. The fact that the run takes place in Las Vegas is just a fringe benefit. Granted, it will likely be closer to a walk with a little running thrown in there, but I’ll make it one way or another.
Most importantly, I am excited to be raising money for an organization and a cause that I believe in so deeply. My goal is to raise $3,500 to fight Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. I respectfully ask that you consider joining me in this fight. At least 81-cents of every dollar will go directly to IBD research. Please check out my Fundraising Page for more details. If you don’t know my story, you can read more on how this disease has impacted my life.
I’ve lived with this disease for 13 years. I’m excited to run those 13 miles to help find a cure.
