I was told to not lift anything over 10 pounds for 4-6 weeks, so I’m still a little wary about moving heavy objects since my surgery was only four weeks ago. (You really notice how often you use your stomach muscles in everyday life after stomach surgery.) And Jarrod has been out of town for work so I’ve already been living like this for two days already and he won’t be back until later tomorrow, so I guess I’ll just have to keep avoiding the piles of junk for another day.
I think this will be a good thing in more ways than one. Not only are we getting our carpets clean, but I think it’ll help us get rid of some junk that’s been piling up in our guest bedroom. So far, it really hasn’t been much of a guest room, it’s been more of a storage area with a bed in it. I’m hoping that now that I’ll have to be moving things back in there, it will provide the motivation for clearing the room out and actually using it as it was intended.
I actually bought a Groupon to have the carpets cleaned about a year ago, but Rylie has not been kind to our carpets so we’ve been putting it off for a while. Finally, we realized that our carpets were so bad that we had to go ahead and do it. Plus, it was good timing since I’m actually home during the day for now.
The carpets aren’t even dry yet, but they look so good! I almost don’t want to let Rylie back in because I know the hair will just start piling up again. It’s amazing how much better a little house sprucing can make you feel. Having a clean house makes me feel like my life is all in order. It’s also encouraged me to clean up some other parts of the house. My pantry is very organized at the moment! We’ll see how long that lasts.
