I had big goals for June, but only two: run a half-marathon and recovery from surgery.
Thankfully, I made it through both without a hitch! I was even able to tackle my secondary goals such as sorting through my filing and starting back to work. However, I’m still having to come to terms with a lower level of energy as my body heals. I ended up working a 50-hour week last week (how does that happen??) and I am feeling the effects now. That’s why I’ve been absent from the Stolen Colon since my post on my first day back to work.
But I am glad to be starting another month. It makes me feel that I am officially past my surgery and the initial recovery and can start fresh with getting back to normal life… even if that means trying my best to still take it easy.
I am planning on getting back into an exercising and training routine right away. For some reason, that first run seems daunting and I’m not really sure why. But I will be putting together a schedule for myself this month, even though I’m not exactly sure what I will be training for. I will definitely be doing another race this year, but whether it’s a 5K, a half-marathon or a triathlon, I’m not sure yet.
Plus, at the end of the month, Jarrod and I will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary! I’m looking forward to a day that’s just us: no phones, no emails, nothin’.
This is my final month before heading back to grad school, so I know I need to brush up on my communication theories. I actually ordered myself a textbook to look through for the summer, just to help me prepare for the upcoming semester. (Nerd alert!) But it may be a week or two before it gets here.
So I’m planning on keeping it simple again this month and down to just a handful of goals that I can actually achieve.
- Training goals
- Get in my first run by the end of the week.
- Decide on fall race by July 15.
- Put together training schedule for the month of July, including 5 days/week of activities.
- Grad School goals
- Read through communication theory textbook.
- Personal goals
- Plan day and celebrate 3 years with the hubby!
- TRY to not worry too much about hours and just settle back into work.
